If you live in the Ohio counties of Crawford, Defiance, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, Williams, Wood, and Wyandot, or in the Michigan counties of Lenawee, and Monroe we would really like to see and hear from you!
The Black Swamp Division is blessed with a very wide variety of modeling talent! From scales as small as Z to large scale live steam our members are very diverse! Our skill levels range from the novice to the master and we all come together to share our knowledge. Something new is learned with every meeting!
Our division is very large and we understand it is difficult to attend the meetings for some people. There are still ways to participate! Our newsletter (the Train Order) is published monthly about two weeks before each meeting. Through the Train Order we try to keep everyone informed of what is happening in the division. Even if you cannot attend a live meeting, the Train Order allows you to submit information, news, new purchases and just share your experiences in the hobby with other division members.
During the summer months (when we do not have meetings) we typically plan an outing (or two) to various train related venues across the area. Since these events generally happen on weekends it offers a great opportinuty to those who cannot attend the regular meetings.
We also have occasional open houses hosted by members of the Black Swamp. We encourage all members to “show off” their hard work. The layout does not need to be large, complete or a particular scale. Seeing what our fellow modelers are doing with benchwork, structures, rolling stock is educational for other members. A mini layout is just as enlightening as a basement empire.
