Our mission is to promote education and fellowship through the sharing of information and the promotion of the world's greatest hobby. - Model Railroading.
We need content for the Train Order! Every month we find ourselves scrounging for anything we can get. Please submit your updates/articles/photos/whatever to the editor at div1ncr@outlook.com. Even if it's just a photo of your layout or something you saw or are trying for the first time. Sharing is the best way to spread the hobby and ideas.
So, the sun has set on Black Swamp Junction! As we sit back and reflect on how it went, the answer is SO GREAT! We did a survey of attendees and so far, the ratings are over 95% showing it was a great event in every way. The final tally of attendees was over 150 and with spouses that's over 200 people at the event. That is a great number even in a non-pandemic setting! The Yard Sale was also a huge success, with over $3,000 in sales. We even made a little money on the shirts which sold pretty good. More information on the final numbers in our coffers should be available at the November 19th meeting. Needless to say, we are in the black for the next few years.
As I said above our next meeting is November 19th and this will be our last meeting of 2021. We will pick up again on January 28th, 2022. On December 10th we will have our Black Swamp Division Christmas Party! Details on when, where and what are later in the Train Order. If you have not been to the party before, please consider coming this year. It's a fun time with good food and great friends!
Our November meeting will also include a "Show and Tell" and the "Rip Track" table where you can sell your excess items or give away old items to anyone in need. Show and Tell can be anything from your latest project to a photo of a prototype or just about anything hobby related.

This month's clinic will be presented by Michael Anteau who is a published modeler in Model Railroad Hobbyist. Michael will be presenting his clinic "Building a Creek with Toilet Paper and Glue" which was recently a featured article in MRH. This will be a great topic and demonstration as it can cover all scales and geography.
I'm still looking for material and clinicians for the beginning of the new year. If you have a topic you'd like to see or may want to present, please let me know. Remember, a clinic doesn't have to be a "how to" but may be as simple as giving us a tour of your layout or history of what prototype you model.
We hope to see you at the meeting.

I want to personally thank EVERYONE who had a part in making the Black Swamp Junction the great event that it was! The one complaint that stuck out was "You have placed the bar so high for the next convention, we may never even come close!". Below are a few images from various locations around the convention.
The Blissfield Model Railroad Club is one of the featured layouts in the recently published Great Model Railroads 2022 edition. Be sure to grab a copy and see how they run ops! BMRC also opened their doors to the convention for operations. If you have not been by lately, stop in! They have open houses scheduled as follows:
Jim Wolsiffer is looking to form a "Work Group" to help him progress on his large HO scale basement layout. If you are interested in helping, please contact Jim by email at jwolsiffer@roadrunner.com.
Marshall Stull has been working on upgrading his fleet of diesels. This includes adding DCC to some older locomotives, adding details and painting handrails.
The weather cooperated on Friday at the convention allowing Nancy and Rick Whitehill to have their garden railway open for the convention. This great photo was posted by Nancy on Facebook.
During the convention we used Google Maps to create unique maps for layout tours, venues, railfanning and other sites within the Black Swamp Division. We have taken one of those maps and created our own Division Map. The map shows the division boundaries and unique railroad related sites in the division. As train shows are scheduled, we will try to add them to the map. Please feel free to suggest changes, additions or tell us about errors. Send updates to div1ncr@outlook.com.
