Our mission is to promote education and fellowship through the sharing of information and the promotion of the world's greatest hobby. - Model Railroading.
I want to welcome everyone back to the newsletter for the 2022-2023 season!!! This summer was short and hot. From everything I have heard it has been full of model railroading and railfanning! I have included in this newsletter just some of the things I have heard and seen over the summer. Please make sure to plan on bringing your summer projects/adventures to the meeting on September 16th!
As always, we need articles for future editions of the Train Order! Please submit any article to div1ncr@outlook.com. Beyond full articles, please tell us what you are up to at div1ncr@outlook.com!! Even if it's just a photo of your layout or something you saw or are trying for the first time. Sharing is the best way to spread the hobby and ideas.
September 16th is our first meeting of the 2022-2023 season!! Since we last met there have been several events such as the Tri-Regional MWR, NCR, MCR and RMP Convention, the NMRA National Convention, a number of train shows and the Toledo Train Days Event. Even with all that, we have more coming in October, with the K-Zoo Junction Weekend - Mini NCR Model Railroad Convention. Division 9 is hosting this weekend event. It is not often that Division 9 hosts an event and as a result many rarely seen layouts will be open for viewing! Registration is only $30 which is really inexpensive (cheaper than a family meal). Check out the October Convention News page at http://www.ncr-div9.com/conventionHome.php for the latest information.
I must apologize to everyone for the very short notice on the summer outing this year!! Some life issues prevented me from getting everyone together in a timely manner and once planned the only date available was very quick. Even so the outing went very well, our hosts were very generous allowing us ample time to view the layouts, ask questions and feel at home. We ended the day with a pizza dinner hosted by the layout owners.
Last year we started a theme for the show and tell at the meetings. Our theme for the Sept 16 meeting will be "What I Did Over The Summer". We are asking that everyone bring something related to activities/modeling you did over the summer. Now to be clear, we are not asking that you specifically bring something you made (although we do like that). Summer Activities is the THEME and anything about modeling that you did over the summer fits the bill!! Here are a few examples of what you could bring:
I look forward to seeing everyone at the meeting!!

Autumn is here once again. Some say that when summer ends, modeling season begins. But we want to see what you've been up to over the summer!
We want to you to bring in or tell us about "What I Did This Summer". We're hoping that you all have been busy building, detailing, or vacationing with railroad themes.
We think this will be much more than just the normal Show & Tell, so we're going to make this Clinic time as well. Clinics will return for October.

Assistant Superintendent
Here is a quick breakdown of what to expect at the meeting:
submitted by Jeff Schumaker, Division One - NCR, NMRA
Jeff found these diagrams on the back of an old Varney car kit instruction sheet. Although old, the information is still very useful and shows prototype practices for loads on flat cars.

Here is where we post news, announcements, items for sale, free stuff, or whatever message you need to get out. Just drop an email to div1ncr@outlook.com and we will get it in the next issue.
Facebook Postings
Facebook is not for everyone so here are a few "reposts" from the Black Swamp Facebook Group Page
Posted by Jim Wolsiffer - My winter project is finally out of the shop. (FYI, Jim had several other new "toys" posted on FaceBook, but we will leave those for him to bring to the meeting on Sept 16th. This one seemed a little big to bring in person.)
Posted by Stephen Kellogg - Northwestern Modular Railroaders, was set up at the show in Van Wert. Here are some pictures of our modules. We will be set up at the show in Fostoria on September 24th.
Posted by Larry Hickman - RF&E local #20 approaching Weston Depot before diverging onto their rails at Homecrest Tower.
Black Swamp Division at the Toledo Train Day
Our Division setup a table at the Toledo Train Day where we talked to many individuals about the benefits of being an NMRA member. As always, we saw lots of old friends and met several new ones.
Summer Outing 2022 - Div 6 Layout Tour
Nathan Vance took several images during our visit to the layouts of Division 6 (Motor City Division). We want to thank the members of Division 6 for opening their layouts and homes to us. A great time was had by all!!
